Joel Frohlich Column: Consciousness, Self-Organization, and Neuroscience
Joel Frohlich is a neuroscience Ph.D. student at the University of California, Los Angeles studying electroencephalogram (EEG) biomarkers of neurodevelopmental disorders. He completed a ten-month internship with F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd in Basel, Switzerland. Joel is interested in understanding consciousness and other properties of the brain as self-organized, emergent phenomena. Such phenomena arise from complex interactions between simple parts (i.e., information integration between neurons). Joel is editor-in-chief of Knowing Neurons.
